Central Street (Zhongyang Dajie)

Central Street (Zhongyang Dajie), is a cobblestone pedestrian street in downtown Harbin. First built in the late 19th century, Central Street is still lined with historic Russian-style buildings dating from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Originally used to transport railway supplies, Central Street was paved with cobblestone in 1924 and has since become a central shopping and restaurant district. Central Street ends at Stalin Park, a promenade along the Songhua River. This is a popular local gathering place, and in the winter you can go skating, sledding and inner tubing on the ice.
